5 MRT Stations of Jurong Region Line will start Construction in 2020

The first five stations of Jurong Region Line (JRL) will commence its construction next year and expected to complete by 2026, according to Land Transport Authority (LTA).

The contract worth $739.50 million were awarded to build the five stations namely Choa Chu Kang, Choa Chu Kang West, Hong Kah, Tengah and Corporation station.

Under the project, existing Choa Chu Kang station along North South Line (NSL) will have to be altered to integrate with the new JRL station.

As the seventh MRT line of Singapore, the 24km JRL will consist of 24 above ground stations in total. It will accommodate 200,000 commuters daily in the initial stage, and is expected to increase to above 500,000 publics per day in the future.

When completed in few years time, it will greatly improve the connectivity around the west region and serve the residents of the new condominium to other part of Singapore.
